Welcome to Mapplewell’s web site. We are all very proud of our school and the things that our pupils and staff achieve and hope that you will enjoy visiting our site.
Mapplewells is a primary school in the county of Nottinghamshire, situated on Henning Lane in Sutton-in-Ashfield. We have two hundred and sixty one children on roll from F1 (Nursery), through to Year Six. Our pupils are well behaved and enjoy coming to school and this shows in the work that they do and the things they achieve!
In April 2006 we were visited by Ofsted inspectors and this is what they said about our pupils: ‘Pupils enjoy their schooling well and have good self-esteem. The high standards of behaviour reflect the consistent approach taken by all staff to maintain these levels. As a result pupils are polite and friendly to visitors and understand how their behaviour and attitudes affect others.’
We pride ourselves on providing our children with a very broad curriculum which enables all pupils to develop their skills and talents. In Key Stage Two the children study French and recorders, as well as the traditional curriculum areas. We also offer children the opportunity to go on a range of day and residential trips during their time in school. These include visits to farms and rivers, as well as the opportunity to stay in Skegness for three nights and to Kingswood, which is an adventure holiday for Years Five and Six pupils.
The school prides itself on a ‘family approach’ to caring for our pupils. All staff treat pupils kindly and with respect and take a keen interest in their development. We encourage parents to become involved in school activities and hold regular parents evenings and information sessions for parents to attend. We have a very enthusiastic Governing Body, who take a keen interest in the work of the school and continually work with staff to provide the children with the best possible education.
